| description: | One of Germany's biggest and best known resorts, as well as its most southerly. Oberstdorf is popular with families year round. There are a wide range of sporting (and not sporting) alternatives to skiing. There are ski areas dotted all round the village. Ski jumping world-cup events are staged here annually. In 2005, the Nordic Ski World Championships took place in the resort for the second time since 1987.
The resort also offers:
•Germany’s longest downhill slope at the Nebelhorn cable lift (7.5 km!)
•The Söllereck lift is Germany’s longest continuous monocable lift with panorama cars providing a seating space for 6 persons and comfortable boarding for both young and old.
